Project Summary

Delivering the first phase of a mixed-use retail development on the Wynyard Trade Park. Buildings constructed during this phase included Sainsbury’s supermarket, Burger King & Starbucks drive-thru alongside a 7-unit Trade Terrace, designed to accommodate various retailers. All units were designed with associated access roads and car parking provision, totaling over 300 spaces.

Our Approach

The development was constructed on a Greenfield site, incorporating a large pond to the northern boundary, a concrete carpark to the NorthWest corner and undulating topography from spoil left from adjacent developments.

Works on the Wynyard retail development are split into two phases, with this project comprising the first phase. Portland were responsible for managing the ground remediation works that were required to prepare the site for the development. Portland were also responsible for the design of all external hardstanding areas, drainage, storage tanks, substations and retaining walls in addition to ground floor slabs and foundations for all units.
