Noodle Bar: Brighton

Project Summary

Refurbishment of an existing retail premises to accommodate a new store for the Chopstix Group who are a Quick Serve Restaurant chain operating nationwide

Works involved included constructing a proposed staircase from the basement to the ground floor of the property.  Portland were also required to design trimming steelwork to enable the installation of a proposed dumb waiter, ensuring that food could be delivered from the basement-level kitchen up to the ground floor restaurant.

Our Approach

Portland held an initial team meeting with the Client and design team to discuss the project.  Through this we informed the Client that a detailed survey of the existing structure would be required.   From this detailed survey Portland produced their steelwork designs to allow the trimming steelwork to be installed.

Portland’s primary involvement in the project consisted of providing support steelwork to apertures and associated calculations which would allow the existing floor to be cut to facilitate the installation of the staircase and dumb waiter.

As this was a refurbishment project, Portland had to take into account the features of the existing structure when considering design options.  Portland were able to inform the design team on where the floor could be cut to avoid cutting excess planks or introducing additional sections of flooring.
