Kirkleatham Hall School

Project Summary

Creating a new single storey extension to expand the Kirkleatham Hall School building, creating additional capacity for 12 new student placements.

The new facility within the school will provide ‘rebound therapy’ for pupils – this uses trampolines to provide enhanced movement, therapeutic positioning and for exercise and recreation.

Our Approach

A need for a rebound therapy centre was identified and this was required to be sympathetically placed within the school grounds without causing harm to the setting of the listed buildings or the surrounding ecology.

The phase 1 building includes therapy hall, autism spectrum disorder classrooms, sensory room and garden. A second phase included an extension to the existing hall, as well as extended reception and administration areas. Internal modifications were also made to the building to improve safeguarding.
