Portland is passionate about the North-East and demonstrates this through supporting local events and charitable causes to aid the development of the region. Since 2019 the company has been a proud sponsor of the Gateshead Beer Festival, helping the event to grow and develop further over the years.
Portland is keen to lend support to local grassroots sport. In recent years Portland has provided match sponsorship for Gateshead RFC games, provided shirt sponsorship for the Rockcliffe Under 6’s rugby juniors side and given donations to local boxing gyms to help cover costs and promote local boxing cards.
Portland’s approach to building communities extends to supporting those in need within the region. A team of staff from Portland undertook a charity hike up Helvellyn in July 2023, raising funds for ‘Daft as a Brush’, a North-East based charity providing transport for those living with cancer to and from their scheduled hospital appointments. The hike was an unqualified success, raising more than £5000.
Portland makes regular donations of food and toys to the Gateshead foodbank and children’s charity Hope 4 Kidz respectively.
