Eur Ing John Hardy CEng, BSc, MIStructE, FFB
John is a Chartered Structural Engineer with a degree in mathematics and is registered to practice in the European Community. He began his career as a reinforced concrete detailer with Square Grip, eventually moving to HJT Consulting Engineers in 1977. In 1999 HJT merged with WSP Group, after a spell of 4 years John started Portland Consulting Engineers in 2004 as sole trader and has seen the company grow to its present size and stature within the construction industry.

Mark Grant CEng, BEng(hons), MICE, MIStructE
Mark is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Chartered Structural Engineer and graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1996. He began his career with the bridges section of Bullen Consultants before moving to John Mowlem & Co (later to become Carillion) becoming Senior Structural Engineer in the Gateshead Building office. A spell with Cleveland Bridge preceded his move to Portland in May 2004.

Peter Dwyer CEng, BEng(hons), MIStructE
Peter Dwyer is a Chartered Structural Engineer who cut his teeth as a technician working for HJT on site during the construction of the MetroCentre. He then studied at the University of Aberdeen and returned to HJT where he gained chartered status. He continued working there through the change to WSP prior to taking up a senior management position at Motherwell Bridge. These experiences have formed a solid foundation which can be exploited to the benefit of PCE and their Clients.

Lee Barr
Lee began his career at HJT Consulting Engineers as a trainee Structural Technician working up to Senior Technician at WSP over a period of 11 years.
Lee commenced employment at Portland in August 2004 and has developed his skills and qualifications progressing through the ranks from Project Engineer, Associate and now Director with Associate membership status with the IStructE.
Lee’s primary experience is Social Housing and Extra Care schemes, as well as working within the Health and Education sectors.
