Day Treatment Centre an Awards Hit!

We’ve been celebrating the recent successes of our work on the Freeman Hospital Day Treatment Centre. Alongside the rest of the project team, we’ve attended three awards ceremonies, in which the Centre has collected a total of four industry awards alongside being Highly Commended in a further two categories.

The £16million healthcare facility was constructed in 2022 to alleviate the significant waiting list challenges exacerbated during the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the achievements in constructing the Centre was the fast-track nature of construction, with the project completed and first patients welcomed a little over 10 months from the projects inception including a first pass design, approval and construction.

The first of the accolades was presented to the Day Treatment Centre in late 2022 for ‘Most Collaborative Project’ at the Institution of Structural Engineers’ Northern Counties Awards.

Next was the Constructing Excellence in the North-East 2023 Awards, the Centre was successfully nominated for a further two awards, winning in the categories of ‘Value’ and ‘Innovation and Collaborative Working’ whilst also earning a Highly Commended in the ‘Building Project of the Year’ category.

The most recent award was won at the Royal Town Planning Institute North-East Annual Awards, where the project was nominate for and won ‘Project of the Year’.

Mark Grant, Director at Portland said:

I’m extremely proud to see our work on the Day Treatment Centre being recognised throughout the regions most prestigious awards ceremonies. To have won the awards for collaborative working demonstrates the brilliant work of the project team to deliver such a high-quality healthcare facility in a short space of time. Congratulations to the whole project team on these awards!
