Work has now commenced on site on a new affordable housing development located on the disused former site of the Consett Magistrates Court.
The £3m project, led by Durham-based housing association believe housing, will provide 18 new affordable houses comprised of a mixture of 5 2-bedroom houses which will be available to rent and 13 3-bedroom houses available for purchase under the government’s Rent to Buy scheme.
This project is in part funded by Homes England under their Affordable Homes Programme 2021-26.
Building is expected to conclude early next year, with the first occupants expected to be moved in around Spring 2023.
Portland will be providing structural and civil engineering design services whilst working alongside architects NORR and contractors Homes by Carlton.
